Update 6/19/09

Driven by our VALUES, we carry out
our MISSION in pursuit of our VISION

The Role of Mission, Values, and Vision in the life
of Christ Community Church

•  Values ... identify the Biblical principles that establish our priorities, influence
our choices, and guide our actions.  Our
Core Values list defines the Biblical
principles that we believe are essential in defining our mission and our vision
   for the future.

•  Mission ... comes from the Latin word meaning send.  Mission explains why we
exist and points our values in the direction we are convinced that God is sending
   us.  Our
Mission Statement clarifies our identity and defines the who, what, and

where of our ministry efforts.

•  Vision ... defines our desired future through inspiring and energizing our creative
thinking toward answering the question:  What do we believe God wants our
church to look like when we “become mature, attaining to the whole measure of
the Fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13b)?”  Instead of using a specific time frame, our
Vision Statement takes each Core Value and uses the phrase “We envision a
time when...” to paint a word picture describing the church we believe God
   wants us to become.

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
– Ephesians 4:16

The Process

Scripture defines the church as the Body of Christ, frequently emphasizing the importance of church unity.  “All the believers were one in heart and mind,” writes Luke in describing the emerging New Testament church in Acts 4:32.

The process we are using to create our Core Values and Mission and Vision statements is intended to honor this “one heart and mind” emphasis.  For a detailed description of the process, see The Visioning Process link on the left.

The feedback process has been completed.

The Vision Statement will be finalized this week – and we will celebrate the completion of the Values-Mission-Vision process during worship on Sunday, June 28.
