MISSION Feedback -
What aspects do you QUESTION? ______________________________
All principles are biblically sound. There needs to be more fleshing out I feel of the mission. I'll mention this in the feedback below.
It is plainly stated.
There appears to be emphasis on the products and what we are to accomplish. Before we can do things for Guilford County we need to first establish a relationship with Jesus. The people of Guilford County are referenced, but not me or you.
I think one of the big tricks to writing an effective mission statement is making
it clear and at the same time concise.
The average CCC member should be able to
quickly recall the mission statement if indeed the whole congregation is to buy in
to it. Otherwise it becomes an unknown document and only useful to a handful of
people who have put it to memory.
In short, the mission statement isn't clear because
it is very long. I think one or two concise sentences is a good goal.
The people of Guilford County-
I saw a lot about our fruits in Guilford county but didn’t see much about our personal transformation that must preceded the work in Guilford County.
What is MISSING? ____________________________________________
As a young person who works and has worked in the cultural world, there needs to be some aspect of the final section that speaks to equipping and educating our church culturally. I truly believe that if we aren\'t equipped to respond to the \'cultural\' needs of our community/world with love and awareness that the Body will suffer and miss a huge sector of the younger generation.
What more to add?
Nothing I can think of!
I think intentional reproduction is a vital part of the life of a church.
Reproducing:
1)
disciples (those who are not yet believers)
2) intentionally trying to plant new
churches.
3) raising up missionaries to go to the unreached peoples of the world.
In item 1, are we assuming all the members of our own body already know what it truly means to glorify God and enjoy Him forever and, if so, should that be mentioned at a starting point? I\'m probably not asking this the right way!
LOVE
In loving the Lord, communicate...
In loving our neighbor,advance...
In loving
our brother and sister, empower...
Under the third point ("Empower, educate, and equip our church members..."), add
the goal of of empowering, educating and training our church members to grow in their
knowledge of and love for the Lord (personal spiritual growth).
What OTHER FEEDBACK
do you have? ________________________
Although this is not a big issue, there are some members (such as myself) who live in Rockingham County.
I feel very strongly about the last section of the mission statement. I have worked in various arts institutions/museums/politics and really feel like the church must be 'culturally relevant'...this doesn't mean rock bands in church necessarily, but it does mean awareness of the arts in the world and perhaps introducing more programs that reflect God as Creator (much like we have studied in Genesis recently) where the visual arts, music, and films/drama are explored as means of glorifying God and making our church culturally relevant yet biblically sound. Good resource is to check out Redeemer Presbyterian’s emphasis on the arts in NYC. I would love to be part of initiating an after school arts program at our church even where both a bible study is undergone with teaching kids to paint, play the guitar, learn how to draw or knit, produce a film documentary or even act in a theatrical production. What a missionary outreach this would be to the growing cultural needs of our community here in Greensboro.
Great job! Your end product will need to be so simple and clear that a high school
age student will understand it.
Great beginning on both core values and mission drafts!
